State police trooper Clay Core didn’t offer any points for creativity to a pair of drug suspects who allegedly made an unusually desperate attempt to discard evidence while leading the trooper on a high-speed chase Monday night along Interstate 5 south of Eugene.
Core said the men ripped open several half-pound bags of marijuana and tossed piles of buds out of their car windows while traveling as fast as 110 mph along the freeway.
“It was an attempt to get rid of evidence, for sure,” Core said. He added that the marijuana “was pelting my car” during the chase between Creswell and Goshen.
The unusual pursuit began just north of Creswell, after Core had stopped the suspects’ 2001 Chrysler 300 at 9:01 p.m. Core said he approached the car, spoke to the suspects and saw evidence of illegal activity.
