Meta: Does Newsvine Place Ads Purposely? (The BEST Advertisement on my column EVER)

Take a look at this:

AWESOME

Isn't it amazing how that advertisement appeared on that specific poll? I bet the staff in the HQ were sitting around a table, looking for a place to put this ad, when they came upon my column. "EUREKA!" one (wo)man shouted, "I HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE!!!"

Obviously, this can't possibly be true (or is it?), but it does bring a question to mind. I have always had a feeling, based on past experiences, that staffers occasionally pull something like this to be funny or clever. In my mind I know that it's a computer doing the work, but I always wonder about the "behind the scenes" of this site.

I would love to see some videos of them saying hi, showing us what they do and how they make us their minions. The situation reminds me of a Simpsons episode, when one of the characters thought he was talking to god, though it was only Homer Simpson via a speaker hidden in a bible. I've never seen nor heard from the 'vine staff, which makes me curious: why don't they play a more active role around here?

For instance, it would make me feel closer to them. I hate contacting the staff because I never believe that my messages are read. I have a list of complaints and ideas that would be beneficial, yet I hesitate to send them because I don't think that they will be taken into consideration. Actually, I wish they'd post an article asking for our insight, because we do have it and we can be sure that it will be read.

So that basically wraps up my thoughts about the Newsvine staff. I'll keep watching out for more fantastic advertisements.

Too funny!

Quite ironic isn't it? My guess (only a guess) is that there is some mathematical formula for ads, using key words from the page and cookies and all.... throw in a bit of big brother conspiracy and yeah.... we have few rights here on the internet.

I once heard someone on some news show (great references right?) talking about what happens to you on the internet when you go online. Imagine this... whenever you go shopping in the real world, no one really cares what you browse through. However, on the internet, it is like someone following your every move. Cookies allow for someone to look at what everything you did, taking notes etc.
So I know there is some sort of method to the advertising thing....

Wonder if it has anything to do with my name and this is the added security around me that I never know about.

Though I am getting shampoo ads on this one. Not quite sure where that fits into the picture though it's pretty.

I wish they'd remove those ads where you unintentionally scroll over them and down they pop - you have to find the little "x" hidden like Where's Waldo in order to get the damned thing to go away!
