News today was released regarding the circumstances of singer Amy Winehouse's (27) death two months ago. Until now, we could only guess as to the reasons surrounding her passing. The autopsy told us little at first- that the COD was not due to illegal drugs. However, now we know that Amy died hitting the bottle.
And with much emphasis on the "wine" part.
Winehouse had a blood alcohol level five times above the legal limit. That, in both UK and US laws, translates to 4% BAC, well above the needed 0.08% to be classified as "drunk".
According to the valuable and trusted source of wikipedia, the effects of BAC that high include "general lack of behavior, unconsciousness, death is possible". That's a LOT of booze, way past the stumbling-around-youtube videos that are all over the internet. I don't think many people are surprised when they learn of her cause of death (my English class was most definitely not), but it is still a very sad way for her to go.
RIP Amy Winehouse, a woman with a unique voice and gift who we lost too soon. Her memory lives on in her song.
