The realization is starting to set in. The depression as well. There were riots in London because of it, and attacks in Philly because of it, and some glitter bombs on airplanes because of it.
The fact that Michele Bachmann came in first on the Iowa straw poll surprised me and all of my conservative friends as well. Most people I know think she is a true moron that has a .000001 chance at the Presidency (out of a billion). But the Iowians proved that their brain cells are becoming extinct this weekend, because their poll put her on top.
I don't dislike her completely. I think she's good looking and fairly well-spoken. I just don't agree with some/a lot/almost all/ok, all of her policies and plans. I still respect her as a human being, something that I think everyone could be reminded about on occasion.
But opinions aside, I don't think that she's going to slide out of the spotlight anytime soon, as I know most liberals would like. Her policies are not fit for the 21st century, and the fact that she does not rise to a challenge and defend her views against criticism makes me wonder if she's as wimpy as Obama can be some times. For example, the AP posted today that Michele "Doesn't judge gays", however they played a clip where she seemed very adamant about her feelings on same-sex marriage. She dodged every question she received.
Despite that, she will be hanging around for a while, though ultimately I think her push for the extreme right will backfire and cost her votes in the end. Until now, we'll spend more time trying to figure her out. We'll have plenty of it to do so.
